The Doulos Experience:

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:5-8

Doulos speaks of submission to one’s master. The Doulos has no life of his own, no will of his own, no purpose of his own and no plan of his own. The slave’s every thought, breath, and effort is subject to the will of his master. In sum, the picture of the bond-servant is one who absolutely surrendered and totally devoted to his master.

The Doulos program is a two or three-week intensive discipleship program for teens ages 14-18 that is designed to encourage spiritual growth and servant leadership. This is accomplished as one grows in an understanding of what it truly means to be God’s “Doulos.” This entails not only service with one’s hands but one’s life being lived solely for Jesus Christ.

Doulos is an exciting opportunity for teens to learn to study God’s Word and cultivate a deeper understanding of it through personal quiet time, learning to share their testimony and their faith, and have hands-on opportunities to apply God’s Word through serving in ministry at Head Waters Lodge and beyond. This involves ministering to campers and staff in word and action, reaching out to the surrounding community with practical acts of service and evangelism, helping in the kitchen and facilities, and so much more! They will also develop new friendships with other teens who are likeminded in their desire for a deeper relationship with Jesus.
